A wet wander to Stob Coire Nan Lochan, Glencoe.

Conditions reports.  Warm and very damp. Water logged snow made for heavy going. The burns are also swollen  due to the melt.
Debris was evident and ice was seen falling off the cliffs. I kept away from the big Gully lines and funnels. Wet slab will occur at some stage. The snow is water logged to full depth. The bonus is if it freezes it will be the best neve ever. If? Take care folks. Happy mountaineering.

Winter Conditions Reports Resume.

Our winter season has begun. We will up date our reports on a regular basis. Please remember that it is a serious undertaking heading out into the Scottish mountains in winter so please check the weather http://www.mwis.org.uk/  on and avalanche forecasts on http://www.sais.gov.uk/  before setting off. Blogs are useful, however they are reports of what has happened and how conditions were not how they will be. Experience is key and if you require to gain more knowledge or skills then we can offer you a personalised course to help you progress to your ambitions.

Yesterday we were out in Glencoe. Fresh snow had fallen above 600 m and the freezing level was approximately 850 m. A lull in the weather made for pleasant walking. No ice was to seen but the low grade gullies in Stob Coire nan Lochan look complete for some early season snow adventures.

It is early days but a base is developing well.
