Gargunock Falls climbed on Jan 3rd 2010!

Mark at the top of the second pitch
Andy on the first pitch.

Mark half way up first pitch..

Mark at the bottom of the falls.

Mark and Andy had an explore 30 Min's from Marks house in the Gargunock Hills, to see if the Gargunock Falls were frozen up enough the climb!
We were really lucky, the middle was running with water but the side had a 40 foot icicle with small bulges. the ice gave interesting technical climbing of approx grade 5.
On close inspection we were not sure if it would take a lead, we top roped it and on the second ascent the top section fell down!
The second pitch above proved to be interesting on thin ice and wet turf!
The hills towards the the north were looking beautiful in the low winter sun, adding to a real bonus to a day on an unusual and esoteric wee route.
